2020 New Mexico Music Awards Postponed

An important message from the New Mexico Music Awards.

With the COVID 19 (Corona) virus protocols extended by governor Lujan-Grisham, we are today announcing the postponement of this year’s awards banquet and show. Our reasoning is two-fold:
1. All venues including our banquet venue, Sandia Resort and Casiono are currently closed and we don’t know when they may re-open.
2. We realize that this pandemic has taken its toll on the NM music industry, denying artists, producers and studios the opportunity to produce revenue. Now would not be the time to be spending money on our program.

The management at Sandia Resort are in agreement and there will be no penalty to the NMMA for postponing the event. Once resort staff are able to resume their positions in house and we are sure that our community is safe enough for all of us to gather together to celebrate our incredible music community, we will choose an appropriate date.

Should this pandemic worsen resulting in the cancellation of the 2020 NMMAs, we will still announce winners and provide trophies. Finalists should be announced soon. Some of our judges are, understandably, pre-occupied.

The New Mexico Music Awards also understands how the current pandemic affects those in the music industry. We are posting information on grants for musicians, government assistance and other tips for surviving and succeeding during this time on our website. We are here to assist in every way possible during this uncertain time.
