The New Mexico Music Awards in cooperation with Full Battle Rattle Albuquerque and the Albuquerque Songwriters’ Cooperative held its first Songwriting Workshop for Veterans on April 19th, 2015.

The program paired veterans with NMMA award winning songwriters Hillary Smith, Kito Peters, Richard Martin, Bambi Wolf and members of the Albuquerque Songwriters’ Cooperative.

Our goal was to build on the work done by Full Battle Rattle Albuquerque which teaches combat disabled veterans to play music as a constructive outlet for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and Traumatic Brain Injury.

The New Mexico Music Awards will be producing more workshops like this in the near future.
